Hi everyone,

How about travelling around the world without leaving home?
The world is filled with many interesting places to visit.
Some of these places are WONDERFUL STRUCTURES.

So... here we go....

1- Start by watching the video (7 wonders of the World)

2- Choose a famous world structure to research. (Collect information, pictures and interesting facts about this structure.)

3- Create a poster to display information about the famous structure you chose (include pictures, facts, historical information...).

4- Lembrem-se também de postar seus comentários, aqui no blog, após a pesquisa da estrutura escolhida. 

5- É importante que durante a pesquisa procurem ler com atenção, buscando pontuar fatos históricos que fazem desta estrutura (construção) algo importante para a humanidade.

6- Pensem também como estas estruturas foram planejadas para sustentar-se durante muitos anos. Como será que elas não caem? Como ficar tão forte e estável durante tantos anos?

7- Bring your posters next MONDAY (August 21st., 2017).

Sua pesquisa deverá ser bilíngue, devendo conter fatos e explicações em Português e Inglês.

Faremos o compartilhamento destas pesquisas em sala ao longo da próxima semana.

Project Time!

How about making AWESOME structures out of recycling material?

Here is the challenge: 

1. You may use recycling materials to build your structure. 
2. It has to have posts in it. It cannot stand flat on the ground.
3. Your structure has to be STRONG and STABLE.
4. It has to hold a little weight for 1 minute (like ten marbles inside/on top of it).
5. It cannot bend or fall.
6. Make a list of the materials used and write a short description to illustrate the process of making the structure in your agenda.

Remember:

* Adults can only help by holding the structure or gathering materials around. (Mom and Dad cannot make the structure to you, ok?

* All projects must be in class by MONDAY - August 14th, 2017.

* Use your Creativity.

* HAVE FUN!

Ao longo da nossa unidade "Where we are in place and time", estudamos sobre as histórias de família e o que elas têm a ver com a história do nosso país, estado e cidade.

Essa semana, apreciamos alguns dos trabalhos do arquiteto pernambucano Terciano Torres, e observamos o olhar diferente do autor sobre a história da colonização de Recife.

Ainda pensando nessa tema, a colonização do Recife, clique no link abaixo e aprecie o catálogo com todas as obras de Terciano Torres, da exposição "O Recife através dos tempos".

Em seguida, escolha uma das imagens  para observar detalhadamente o que ela representa para a nossa história.

Flower Fun!

Here is our project. Follow these steps:

                                                                 

Part 1: STUDY a LITTLE MORE

 1- Go to Studyjams science.

2- Click on Plants!

3- Watch the video about FLOWERS and PLANT ADAPTATIONS

4- Take the Quiz.

Parts 2: RESEARCH and POSTER CREATION

Now that you know more about plants and the way some Angiosperm Flowers reproduce and spread around, search the internet for a special Angiosperm Flower (e.g.: ORCHIDS).

Research about your flowering plant. Include the following details in your information page.

      1-  Include a picture of your flower.

      2- Describe your flower: say its name, its color and  family.

      3- Say the reason you chose this flower.

      4- Write about the place in the world where this flower can be found. (e.g.: South America)/     where was it orinaly from? Does it have ancestors?)

      5- Draw/ glue a map to indicate where your flower lives.

      6- Search and write about any MEDICINAL uses for your flower.

      7- How did it spread (reproduce) along the years. (Flower's evolution through time)

     

Do your best and make a beautiful, instructional research and bring all information gathered to class. We'll prepare our posters in class next MONDAY (June 13th., 2017.)
