The world is full of people who love helping others and try their best to spread peace around: PEACEMAKERS!

It's time to learn more about this people and their brave journeys in the world.
(É hora de aprender mais sobre estas pessoas e suas jornadas de coragem em luta por um mundo melhor!)

Com o auxílio de um adulto, pesquise na internet informações sobre o seu 'peacemaker' favorito.

Make a Power Point Presentation about this person. 
Sua apresentação deve ser curtinha, com 5 slides apenas. Apesar disso, tente deixar a apresentação bem rica, incluindo informações que justifiquem o porquê desta pessoa ser considerada um 'peacemaker'.

Add pictures to your presentation.  Write about all the good this person helped spread around the world.

Quem luta não briga!

Oi Year 3,

Lembram das nossas aulas durante a unidade sharing the planet? Foram bem legais, não é mesmo?

Pois é... para discutirmos a ideia central, 'Viver pacificamente requer modos eficazes de solucionar conflitos', trabalhamos com diversas lutas e seus fundamentos (agilidade, força, equilíbrio e combate).

Nossas discussões giraram em torno do mote 'quem luta, não briga'. Refletimos que lutar não é sinônimo de brigar. Na realidade, descobrimos que as lutas são um exercício de disciplina e respeito ao outro, com regras, tempo, finalidades e locais específicos para acontecer. 

Nossas aulas foram tão ricas em debates e vivências, que culminaram com a proposta de uma visita muito especial. 

Na última quarta-feira, 07/12, recebemos para uma aula demonstrativa, e um bate-papo bem interessante, o professor de boxe João Farias. As perguntas que vocês fizeram a João nos ajudaram a descobrir ainda mais sobre o boxe e outras lutas. 

Parabéns por sua criatividade, atenção e diposição, Year 3!

João... a você o nosso muito obrigado por sua disponibilidade, carinho e paciência com todos!

Peace in Pieces

Hi everyone, 

The world is a mix of sounds, colors and people. 

E assim também é a nossa visão de paz.

Every day, we face different emotions that change our view of the world around us.

Desejar e transmitir a paz é como construir uma colcha de retalhos. Parte por parte, ela se faz, forte e resistente para confortar quem dela necessita.

So... It's time to reflect and ACT!


A tarefa de hoje é construir o PEACE QUILT:

1- Watch the video: Peaceful Pieces 

2- Make a square out of an A4 paper. (This will be your peace quilt square!)

3- Interview someone important to you. Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper. (you may use the left over part of your A4 square, as we saw in class, ok?)

*What color is peace to you?

*What does peace look like?

*Describe a time when you experienced peace. Where were you? What were you doing? 

4- Together prepare your Quilt piece square.

5- Bring your answers and your quilt piece to school on Monday.

6- All the squares will be put together next week! We'll have our own PEACE QUILT!

Sharing the Planet

Hey Boys and Girls,

It's time to start PYP Sharing the Planet. This is a quick,but very important unit to our class.

Our central idea is: 
             Living together peacefully requires effective ways of solving conflict.

Assim, a tarefa de hoje é pesquisar sobre conflito e paz no mundo. Conversem com sua família e amigos sobre o tema procurando investigar o que eles pensam sobre o tema. Reflitam sobre soluções possíveis para que tenhamos paz em nossas vidas, diariamente.

Make a poster (A3 sized) about the topic. 

Make it with your family.

Your poster should reflect the need for peace in today's world.

And remember: 'We are not looking for conflicts! We are searching for solutions!'
