The knight at Dawn...

Hey Kids,

Here is the summary of chapters 6/7:

"...Three guards arrest him and Annie. The guards threaten to hang the children the next day. Annie retrieves her flashlight from her backpack and shines a light in their faces, telling them it is a magic wand. The guards are so surprised that they let the children go. Using a map of the castle (from the book) as their guide, they make their way to the castle's wall as their flashlight dims.

They climb over the castle wall and Jack finds a way out. As he couldn't feel the ground, he decides to explore this place feet first. Jack discovers what a precipite is... he falls down to the moat as Annie could not hold him anymore."

I hope you are enjoying this wonderful story. 

Have you researched anything about the medival times, yet? It would be great to have more information about this era, don't you think?

Uma nova Monalisa

Prontos para criar um novo Da Vinci?

Hoje o desafio é criar uma nova Monalisa, colorindo, recortando, intervindo na paisagem por trás desta figura tão famosa.

Vale usar lápis de cor, de cera, recortes de revista, colagem de pequenos papeis... O que importa é trazer a Monalisa para um cenário diferente do que Da Vinci criou para ela. O legal aqui é criar, soltar a imaginação e expressar sensações através da arte.

E ai... que lugar legal você vai escolher para a sua Monalisa?

Ah! Não esqueça de, ao final do trabalho artístico, escrever um pequeno texto (em inglês), contando um pouco de sua escolha (o porquê do lugar escolhido, o que este tem que te chamou a atenção...).

Jack and Annie are almost finishing their adventure!
Here is the summary for chapters 3 to 5.

Chapters 3/4/5 - summary

"...before Jack can stop her, Annie goes to the castle to explore in it. He follows her, and they hear music inside. Jack takes notes about the things he reads and observes, including the fact that feasts sometimes include peacocks for dinner, crocodiles sometimes swim in a castle's moat and a knight's helmet can weigh up to 40 pounds.

Afraid of being caught, they hide inside a room filled with armor and weapons. Jack accidentally makes a noise while trying on a helmet. Jack feels someone grabbing him by the arm."

Hey kiddos,

Here is the summary of our first two chapters
(The Dark Woods / Leaving Again).

"Jack wakes up early one morning, thinking about the previous day when he and his younger sister, Annie, took a magical trip to the Cretaceous period, 65 million years ago, and met real dinosaurs. Reviewing his notebook, he realizes that they really did travel through time. Annie reminds him to include a note about the mysterious medallion they found, marked with the letter M. She suggests that they take another trip from the tree house, and she brings along a flashlight.

In the tree house, Annie finds a book about castles and turns to a page picturing a knight on a horse. Before Jack can warn her, she puts a finger on the picture and wishes that they could meet a knight in shining armor. The tree house starts to spin and lands in front of a castle. Jack wants to go home, but Annie climbs down the ladder to explore. Jack finds information about knights in the book from the tree house and begins taking notes.

Before Jack can stop her, Annie goes to the castle to explore in it. He follows her."

ELECTIONS 2014!

Voting is a real important attitude and we all need to practice it since we're young.

Last Friday (October 3rd., 2014.) ABA Global School students (year 1 to year 5) showed they are growing to be REFLECTIVE - THINKERS. 

Children voted for president and for governor, anticipating what would be the next Brazilian elections.

Year 3 kids were there!

Systematic Inquiry

Os alunos do Year3 visitaram o cyber nesta sexta-feira 29/08 para buscar mais informações sobre os nossos animais fantásticos e os processos de "mimicry" e "camouflage". 

Utilizaram vídeos e texto disponibilizados no blog da turma para coletar informações mais detalhadas para compartilhar com a turma. 

Parabéns a todos pelo ótimo trabalho. Com certeza as trocas irão se enriquecer ainda mais após esta visita ao cyber!

FOLKLORE and FANTASY

As crianças do Year 3 têm ampliado a oralidade, a leitura, a escrita e a imaginação explorando, em todas as disciplinas, a temática do gênero Fantástico, proposta de estudo da unidade transdisciplinar How we express ourselves ("Fantasy is  a way of challenging and enriching our imagination, and can be expressed through the Arts."). 

Para celebrar a semana do Folclore, a turma do Year 3A desenvolveu uma série de histórias misturando fantasia e lendas do folclore brasileiro, sob a supervisão de Ms Janaína. 

Buscando apresentar seu trabalho as demais turmas, escolheram o texto da aluna Camila Almeida ("A Iara e o Sapo") para representar no bom-dia da última quinta-feira (28/08). 

Além de decidirem sobre qual texto representar, definiram personagens, pessoal de apoio, maquiagem, figurino, etc, e começaram os ensaios. Em pouco tempo já estavam prontos para mostrar a todos "como se expressavam". 

A peça foi tão legal, que a turma do Year3 B recebeu os colegas do Year3 A, na sexta-feira 29/08, para uma apresentação exclusiva para que juntos pudessem avaliar o processo de forma coletiva. 

Em breve será a vez do Year3 B mostrar o que vem aprendendo sobre o gênero Fantástico!
