PÁSCOA 2014

Para celebrar o espírito da Páscoa, as crianças do YEAR 3 participaram de atividades de partilha dentro e fora de suas salas de aula.

Começamos descobrindo palavras relacionadas ao momento e refletindo sobre o que poderíamos melhorar em nós mesmos a partir deste período de reflexão. 

As crianças trabalharam com a frase-guia: "EASTER is about...", e prepararam, em pequenos grupos, cartazes para partilhar com outras turmas da escola.

Assistiram a uma história da renomada autora de livros infantis BEATRIX POTTER, e descobriram que vida de coelhinho também envolve escolhas diárias.

Na terça-feira que antecedeu as comemorações de Páscoa, a turma do YEAR 3 B fez uma visita especial ao JUNIOR A de Ms Diana. As crianças levaram seus cartazes para dar de presente, apresentaram sua produção para os menores e serviram o lanche a turma do JUNIOR A.

No dia seguinte (quarta-feira), foi a vez da turma do YEAR 3 A celebrar com os amigos do TODDLER B  de Ms Karina o que refletiram em sala. O lanche foi ótimo! A interação entre as crianças do TODDLER e as do YEAR 3 foi maravilhosa. Os olhinhos dos Toddlers brilharam ao ver o year 3 entrar e servir o lanche!

WHAT A GREAT WAY TO CELEBRATE!

The Fairness Project

Ao longo da unidade transdisciplinar “WHO WE ARE” os alunos do year 3 trabalharam com o tema escolhas.
As crianças partilharam histórias do dia-a-dia escolar, refletindo sobre o tipo de escolhas que as pessoas fazem em diversos momentos de suas vidas. As situações levantadas e conversas na roda de partilha geraram curiosidade a cerca do termo FAIRNESS (justiça). Afinal, o que é justo e o que não é? Como as pessoas entendem FAIRNESS (o senso de justiça)? O que é FAIR (justo)?Assim, partiram para coletar informações a respeito do que as outras pessoas entendiam por FAIRNESS para que pudessem chegar a suas próprias conclusões. Ao longo das pesquisas as aulas se encheram de atividades de pesquisa complementar, como vídeos, atividades compartilhadas com pais e familiares e observação na escola.
Ao final da unidade, os alunos debateram mais uma vez o tema, chegando a suas conclusões a respeito de FAIRNESS. Coletivamente produziram pôsteres (quadrinhos, textos, seqüência de imagens...) para demonstrar o que aprenderam. Individualmente puderam pensar em uma frase que resumissem o que achavam FAIR (justo) na vida, na escola, em casa, em outros ambientes e soltaram a imaginação e a criatividade produzindo, com lápis de cera e lixa, uma arte que representasse o que suas conclusões a respeito do tema (It’s fair to...).

Here is our Saint Patrick's panel. 

Besides the story telling of all years, children loved creating their Leprechauns, reading a special poem about these magical creatures, and writing about being LUCKY. 

The result is a world of colors and demosntration of friendship, respect and love.

We're really LUCKY to have these kids in YEAR 3!

Somebody loves you, Mr. Hatch

This is the story we have been working with.

Mr. Hatch is very special and he has been teaching us some little things about people.

We are trying to discover WHO WE ARE and Mr. Hatch has been our dearest friend in this task.

BUDDY READING

Year 3 students started their buddy reading routine this week. 

This is the time where they get together with a friend (in pairs, sometimes in trios) to share and read a special book.

We have been reading level 1 books for now, so that everyone can adapt easily to the new routine.

We all stop everything we are doing, read for 15 minutes, and then we make a picture and write some information about the book we shared.

It is very nice to observe everyone read, share ideas together.

Our students simply LOVE buddy reading!
