Peace in Pieces

Hi everyone, 

The world is a mix of sounds, colors and people. 

E assim também é a nossa visão de paz.

Every day, we face different emotions that change our view of the world around us.

Desejar e transmitir a paz é como construir uma colcha de retalhos. Parte por parte, ela se faz, forte e resistente para confortar quem dela necessita.

So... It's time to reflect and ACT!


A tarefa de hoje é construir o PEACE QUILT:

1- Watch the video: Peaceful Pieces 

2- Make a square out of an A4 paper. (This will be your peace quilt square!)

3- Interview someone important to you. Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper. (you may use the left over part of your A4 square, as we saw in class, ok?)

*What color is peace to you?

*What does peace look like?

*Describe a time when you experienced peace. Where were you? What were you doing? 

4- Together prepare your Quilt piece square.

5- Bring your answers and your quilt piece to school on Monday.

6- All the squares will be put together next week! We'll have our own PEACE QUILT!

Sharing the Planet

Hey Boys and Girls,

It's time to start PYP Sharing the Planet. This is a quick,but very important unit to our class.

Our central idea is: 
             Living together peacefully requires effective ways of solving conflict.

Assim, a tarefa de hoje é pesquisar sobre conflito e paz no mundo. Conversem com sua família e amigos sobre o tema procurando investigar o que eles pensam sobre o tema. Reflitam sobre soluções possíveis para que tenhamos paz em nossas vidas, diariamente.

Make a poster (A3 sized) about the topic. 

Make it with your family.

Your poster should reflect the need for peace in today's world.

And remember: 'We are not looking for conflicts! We are searching for solutions!'

Why Conflicts?

Hey kiddos,

Here is another great story video by Dr. Seuss to help us reflect about how conflicts start.

Watch the story and write a comment about it here on the blog.

Then, discuss it with an adult and, together, come to a solution to the Saxes' problem. 

Draw your solution on the worksheet provided. Don't forget to write a paragraph describing your solution (drawing).

Dia da Independência...

Olá turma,

Estamos bem pertinho de uma data especial para o nosso país: o dia da INDEPENDÊNCIA DO BRASIL!!

Então, o desafio de hoje é montar uma pesquisa bem legal respondendo a seguinte pergunta: "Por que comemoramos a nossa independência?"

A pesquisa pode ser realizada com a ajuda de livros, da internet, da família, etc.
Trazer na próxima terça-feira (08/09/15). Podem trazer a pesquisa em papel A4.

The Library Lion

Hey guys,

Here is the link  to the Lion's Story.
I hope you like it! This is a very special one.

After viewing the story online, don't forget to do the word work to learn new words from the story.

As the lion gets lost in the story, you also have to make a LOST LION poster (A4 size).
When writing about the lion, give as many details as possible (e.g.: It's big, yellow and furry) and make it as a real LOST animal poster, including a contact telephone number, your name, or email. (Check the example below!)

Life in and outside Earth 

Dear inquirers,

Now that you have learned a lot about the Universe and it's features, it is time to investigate possibilities of life outside Earth.

Consider these provocations:

* Why is life possible on Earth?

* What makes us special in the Universe?

* Under which conditions could humans/ animals/ plants live in other planets?

Go on a web hunt to answer these or any other questions you may have about the matter. (Use the sites we posted previously on the blog. Or try THIS new one or try this Video)

Bring your findings to school tomorrow (11/27/2014)

(Make a poster if possible/ use pictures/ drawings/ videos to illustrate your thoughts).

Olá Year-3!

Durante esse mês de outubro conversamos bastante sobre o tema: Eleições. Pudemos falar e ouvir a opinião do outro a respeito dos problemas e necessidades que estão presentes em nosso país. Como também conhecermos um pouco melhor as propostas dos nossos candidatos.

Ontem vivemos um momento muito importante onde finalizamos esse período eleitoral, sabendo o nome de quem cuidará do Brasil nos próximos quatro anos. Contudo é necessário que fique claro que, independente de candidato, a pessoa que estará representando o nosso país, tem a obrigação de fazer o melhor por ele e para ele crescer.

Pensando nisso...

Gostaria que cada um de vocês refletisse e escrevesse quatro coisas, que na sua opinião, são fundamentais para tornar o nosso país melhor.  Se necessário, peça ajuda a um adulto.
