Planet's Research

Hi everyone, 

Here are the guidelines and information about our next project.

READY... SET... BLAST OFF!

This is a big project. You will work both at home and in the school. You will be working individually and in groups.

First things first...

1- You'll take home today (Friday - October 07th., 2016) an inquiry worksheet.

2- You'll choose a planet of the Solar System to research about.

3- You'll fill out your inquiry form using as much information as possible about the planet you chose. 

4- Please bring your inquiry page back to class next Monday (Oct. 10th., 2016).

Next steps...

Later, in class, we'll be sharing our findings in small groups.

Finally, each group will prepare posters about one of the eight planets to present to our friends.

As a class, everyone will also be compiling the details of each of the planets to make a comparative analysis of the planets in our solar system later on.

Hey Kids,

It's time to learn about parts of a plant.

Each parts plays an important role in the plants' life cycle. They allow plants to get nutrients from the soil, carry water and absorb sunlight to make their own food. 

To learn more about these parts check the links below.

Complete your plant part work and place it in your PYP journal.

Don't forget to write a little about each plant part and their functions in the PYP journal.

Hello Year 3,

It's time to learn more about the way living things interact and survive in our planet.

Use your PYP journal to answer the following questions:

2- What are biotic and abiotic factors?  

3- How do biotic and abiotic factors interact on Earth?

Green Infrastructure?

Hi Guys,

After our big question session last Thursday, we wondered if you could give us some ideas on developing better city plannings and improving cities infrastructure.

We think a good way to start is thinking about the impact that city development is causing to all natural life around. 

As we concluded, during class, people have been destroying Nature to build new cities. These cities are growing faster and faster as more and more people need a shelter (a home), making city planning more and more challenging to engineers, architects, politicians...

So... we thought...why not building green cities? 

But... What is a green city? What do we have to do to make our cities greener? What will be the impact on city planning and infrastructure if we do transform our cities in greener places?

We found two videos that gives us an idea of how to connect green life to city planning. We also found two great sites that spread the idea of building green.

Watch the videos. Explore the sites. Talk to your parents, people in your community and discuss the topic so that you have a better idea of this difficult problem every city in the world is facing! 

After researching, write a comment here telling us your opinion on the matter.

Ecology...

Hey Year 3,

All life on Earth is interconnected. 

We all depend on each other to live. 

It is really important to know more about the 5 kingdoms of life in order to understand these connections.

To expand more our research here is a video and an interesting site to learn more about ECOLOGY and ECOSYSTEMS.

After researching, don't forget to...
