FAMILY HERITAGE - Family Recipe Book - part 2...

Yesterday, June 15th., the Year 3 B tasted João Felipe's favorite dish: 'pancakes'.

João's mom and dad (Fabiana and Marcelo) came to our school kitchen and taught kids all their secrets. (Check their pancakes' recipe below!)

Kids had lots of fun making pancakes, mixing ingredients and observing  the dough transformations (liquid to solid stage) in the frying pan.

We prepared the pancakes almost at lunch time, what made everyone really happy with the special lunch!

João's parents gave us lots of information about the dish, spoke English to the kids at all times and helped everyone acquire new vocabulary while they prepared and served our "lunch". It was awesome!

We all want to say a big THANK YOU to our friend João Felipe and to their parents for all their effort in making us extremely happy and a lot smarter in the kitchen!!

RAINBOW Gelatine...2015

The Year 3's family heritage book is pretty cool this year. 

Many kids sent us their family recipes and some families were available to come to school and cook to us.

Last Tuesday, June 9th., the Year 3 A tasted Phillipe Huang's favorite desert: 'rainbow gelatin'.

Phillipe's mom, Ana Huang, came to our school kitchen and taught kids all about the Huang's secret colorful gelatin recipe.

Kids had lots of fun making gelatin, breaking it into cubes and observing its transformation from liquid to solid stage. We made the desert in the morning and kids tasted it in the afternoon giving the gelatin plenty of time to turn solid again.Kids discovered cooking has everything to do with science!

Ana gave us lots of information about the dish, spoke English to the kids and helped everyone acquire new vocabulary while she prepared the desert. It was awesome!

We all want to say a big THANK YOU to Ana Huang and our friend Phillipe for all their effort in making us extremely happy!!

Momento Literário...

As crianças do Year 3 tiveram um momento literário especial com a visita da autora de livros infantis Valéria Aguiar, mãe de Mariana Aguiar (Year3A).

Valéria e Mariana contaram a história "A Roseira e o Sapo" que conta como um sapo e uma roseira descobrem que todos têm muito em comum, mesmo nas diferenças, e que podemos, sim, contribuir muito uns com os outros.

Ao final da atividade de leitura, as crianças debateram o tema com Valéria, fizeram sapinhos de origami com Mariana, e ganharam livros autografados. 

Foi certamente uma manhã muito especial!

Agradecemos a Mari e a sua 'mommy' pela gentileza e atenção com todas as crianças do Year3. 

As bibliotecas de cada casa se encheram de carinho após esta visita!
